Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that Noah Syndergaard is heading back to the disabled list after making two starts as he contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease.
The team expects him to only be sidelined for the next seven-to-ten days, but Corey Oswalt will start in his place on Wednesday against the San Diego Padres, which explains the mysterious scratch from his start today for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Mike Puma of the New York Post adds that the team believes he contracted at a youth camp.
Syndergaard, 25, has only started 13 games this season in which he has a 6-1 record, 2.89 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings pitched.
Oswalt, 24, has appeared in five games (four starts) for the Mets this season in which he has gone 0-2 with a 5.64 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 15 strikeouts, and a .195 average against him in 22 1/3 innings pitched.
