The New York Mets needed a solid start from Noah Syndergaard on Tuesday night in what has been a rocky season thus far for the big flame thrower and they got it.

Syndergaard, 26, gave the Metropolitans eight very strong innings of work while allowing two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out six as he helped lead the team to a 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals.

“Pitching is a lot more fun when you go out there and you don’t think,” Syndergaard said after the game regarding his outing. (NY Post)

Noah mostly found himself cruising through the majority of the night as he tossed eight smooth innings of ball. After a rough start to his season, Syndergaard knew that he had to come up big against a struggling division rival.

“I feel like I was in one of those back-myself-in-a-corner situations and the only way I could get out was to relax and have fun,” Syndergaard said.

It took just 102 pitches for Noah to get through his eight innings of work, 64 of those landed for strikes. He looked effortless on the mound as he controlled Nationals hitters throughout the night, picking up his third win of the season.

Tuesday night’s win, improved his record to 3-3 on the season with an ERA of 4.74 and a WHIP of 1.23. He has accumulated 60 strikeouts in 57 innings pitched this season.

Noah and the Mets surely hope to see more starts like this from now on as he moves his season forward.
