Todd Frazier (strained left hamstring) and Anthony Swarzak (left oblique strain) both returned from the disabled list on Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles.

The team optioned Gerson Bautista to Triple-A Las Vegas and DFA’d Buddy Baumann to make room for the two on the active roster and, in Swarzak’s case, on the 40-man roster as well.

Frazier, 32, went 0-for-4 with no strikeouts in his return to the fourth spot in the lineup. The whole lineup only managed to produce three hits and one run, so Frazier was no different than much of his peers.

He now sports a .229/.347/.398 slash line with five home runs and 21 RBI in 118 at-bats on the year.

Swarzak, also 32, made his first appearance for the team since March 31. He pitched the ninth inning with the team trailing by a score of 2-1 and delivered a scoreless inning. He struck out one and walked one as well.

In his total of three appearances on the year now, Swarzak has a 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings pitched.

The right-handed reliever was pleased with his performance, despite being tough on himself for some very minor mistakes, as detailed by Tim Healey of Newsday.

“Felt good to get out there. It was nice to strike out the first guy I faced. Got to play around with some pitches after that. Kind of upset I had a guy 1-2 and walked him. I’m just nitpicking stuff, I guess. It was nice. Healthy.”

The Mets are hoping the two players can provide a spark for the team, as the lineup and bullpen have been dreadful of late.

Mickey Callaway specifically believes Frazier will do that for the team, despite his rough night at the plate.

“He definitely rejuvenates [the lineup]. He rejuvenates the dugout.”
