Livan Is Movin’ On Up

The Mets have juggled their rotation for this weekend’s series against the Yankees so that John Maine can get an extra day of rest. The switch will now have Livan Hernandez start on Friday, and John Maine will pitch on Saturday.

Johan Santana will close out the Subway Series on Sunday.

Maine is coming off a terrible start where he was lit up for seven runs in four innings against the Washington Nationals. Jerry Manuel said that Maine might be going through a “dead-arm period.”

Mets Fans versus Yankees Fans

Our friends Lisa and Jon at Subway Squawkers tell us that WFAN and SNY are teaming up for some special events that have been planned for the Subway Series which begins tomorrow. They write,

WFAN is having a competition pitting Mets fans against Yankee fans to win Subway Series tickets. This contest, at the SNY Studio Plaza (6th Ave. at 51st St.) in Manhattan from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, will feature an obstacle course competition.

Chip, Chip, Hooray!

According to Bart Hubbuch of the NY Post, the Mets have acquired outfielder Chip Ambres from the Boston Red Sox. Hubbuch broke the news via Twitter…

Chip Ambres returns to the Mets after a short three day stint back in 2007 when he played mostly for the then Mets AAA affiliate, New Orleans Zephyrs.

Ambres, 29, has played all three outfield positions in the majors since debuting with the Royals in 2005. The Mets have assigned him to Triple A Buffalo, where he will no doubt spend all of his time with the organization.
