Marcus Stroman went three innings during Friday’s intrasquad game, only really suffering the consequences when it came to the longball.

Stroman allowed four hits and struck out the same amount, walking one over three total innings of work.

His first two frames looked quite promising, as he only suffered two hits, neither of which panned into a scoring opportunity for his opponents.

He saw trouble in the third, first from a home run off the bat of Dominic Smith, and then later in the inning from another homer off the bat of Amed Rosario

After joining the team midway through the 2019 season, Stroman slotted a 4-2 record with a 3.77 ERA over 11 starts.

This was less impressive than he was made out to be when he was traded for; his ERA in the first half of the season with the Blue Jays was a much better 2.96.

Still, he showed lots of promise and ended up being an essential piece of the Mets’ late-season run.

He continued to showcase his skills in the shortened Spring Training back in March, putting up a 2.70 ERA on a 3-1 record over 6.2. IP.

With Noah Syndergaard out for elbow surgery and Zack Wheeler shipped off to Philadelphia, Stroman will be forced into a number two role this season, the highest role on a pitching staff that he has seen since he left Toronto.

On the other side of things, the Mets started newly picked up Erasmo Ramirez, who signed to the team on a Minor League deal back in January.

Ramirez saw slightly more success than Stroman, going one more inning and only giving up one earned run on a home run off the bat of Wilson Ramos

Ramirez gave up three total hits, walked one and struck out one as well.
