Steven Matz tossed four innings in relief of Jacob deGrom for the Mets in their 6-5 win over the Marlins this afternoon at Roger Dean Stadium.

However, the young lefty did not fare well, as he was tagged for three runs along the way and was fading as his outing progressed.

The Long Island native and usually cool, calm, and collected Matz went to the clubhouse and fired his glove into his locker in noticeable aggravation.

“At this point, I’m starting to want results a little bit and they’re not there yet,” Matz said. “But out of the gates, I felt good.”

Matz, who was erratic in his outing against the Nationals on March 11th, is trying to work out the kinks and get back on track.

Mets manager Terry Collins noted after the game that Matz might be fatigued, which could have played a part in the recent string of poor outings.

With today’s outing, Matz’s ERA for the spring ballooned to 7.00.
