According to Mike Mayer of MetsMerized, two of the New York Mets’ starting pitchers have been garnering attention on the winter trade market.

As per sources, left-hander Steven Matz and right-hander Marcus Stroman have drummed up “serious trade interest” recently.

Earlier in the week, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported that Matz and Stroman’s names had been floated in trade rumors. Apparently, those winds are still blowing.

Matz, 28, pitched to a 4.21 ERA with 153 strikeouts, 52 walks, and 1.34 WHIP over 32 appearances (30 starts; 160.1 innings) last season. Stroman, also 28, turned in a 3.77 ERA with 60 strikeouts and 23 walks over 11 starts following his trade to Queens from Toronto in July.

With right-handers Rick Porcello and Michael Wacha having been signed this offseason to help fill the void left by the departure of Zack Wheeler to Philadelphia, teams are predictably kicking the tires on the remainder of the Mets’ rotation, sans Jacob deGrom.

We’ll keep you posted with new information as it becomes available.
