Despite rumblings in the media from Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez, Steve Cohen continues to make steady progress towards purchasing the New York Mets, with few obstacles left standing in his way.

Cohen entered exclusive negotiations to buy the Mets on August 28th, and has been hammering out the final details with Allen and Co. over the past few weeks to make the sale official. Now according to Fox Business correspondent Charles Gasparino, Cohen and the Mets are finalizing paperwork on his purchase of the team now.

With the paperwork set to be finalized, Cohen’s last hurdle to becoming the Mets owner will be at a special owners meeting in November, where he will need at least 23 of the 30 owners to approve. Assuming the votes are in his favor, Cohen will be running the New York Mets before the end of the calendar year.
