The Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros by a score of 5-2 this afternoon at First Data Field

Pitching:

P.J. Conlon got the start for the Mets and pitched well, tossing two scoreless innings, with one hit and a walk allowed.

The ball was then turned over to Jeurys Familia, who pitched one inning, allowing one run on three hits.

Rafael Montero continued his strong spring, contributing two clean innings while registering four strikeouts.

Hansel Robles chipped in two scoreless innings himself, recording two strikeouts, and Josh Edgin followed with a shaky but scoreless inning.

The wheels fell off in the ninth for Tom Gorzellany, however, as the veteran southpaw was touched up to the tune of four runs on four hits, as well as issuing three walks.

Offense:

The Mets could muster up just two runs on four hits this afternoon, with both runs coming via the long ball.

Asdrubal Cabrera touched them all in the first inning, and Wilmer Flores followed suit in the seventh with a big fly to left center.

Yoenis Cespedes and David Wright were the other two Metropolitans to obtain hits.

On deck:

The Mets will travel to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter tomorrow for a matinee performance. Seth Lugo will get the ball for the Amazin’s and will be opposed by Wei-Yin Chen. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
