The Mets beat the Marlins by a score of 5-0 at Roger Dean Stadium this afternoon in one leg of the split squad matches, while the other half were defeated by the Washington Nationals by a score of 6-0 at First Data Field.

Zack Wheeler turned in an impressive performance in Jupiter against Miami, firing five scoreless innings, while registering three strikeouts and yielding just two hits.

Chase Bradford, Kevin McGowan and Logan Taylor followed suit by chipping in scoreless innings of their own.

Jay Bruce and Wilmer Flores each knocked in a run for New York, but the big blow came of the bat of T.J. Rivera, who clubbed a three-run dinger to left to put the Mets up by a then five runs.

Rivera had a quality day at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3.

Cory Burns shut the door for the Mets, pitching a clean ninth inning to seal the win.

Nationals 6, Mets 0

The Mets were blanked by the Nats in Port St. Lucie on the strength of Max Scherzer who recorded five scoreless innings, punching out seven Mets and scattering two hits on three walks.

Seth Lugo was touched up by the Nats to the tune of three homers and eight hits in 4.1 innings of work, while Paul Sewald surrendered two more over two innings.

Jose Reyes, Travis d’Arnaud and Travis Taijeron each logged a hit for New York.

The Mets take on the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow afternoon at First Data Field with Robert Gsellman taking on Adam Wainwright. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
