The Mets defeated the Houston Astros by a score of 3-1 this afternoon at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

Pitching:

Jacob deGrom toed the rubber to start the game for the Mets this afternoon and set down all six batters to face him in order while registering three strikeouts in the process.

Next in line was P.J. Conlon, who chipped in two scoreless innings of his own, which was followed by scoreless frames from Corey Taylor and Ben Rowen.

Sean Gilmartin was the first to falter and surrender a run, but Chasen Bradford pitched a scoreless eighth to get things back on track.

Paul Sewald recorded the save in the ninth inning with a clean frame.

Offense:

The Mets scattered three runs and eight hits this afternoon, the first of which came on an RBI double from Lucas Duda in the sixth to break the then scoreless outing.

In the seventh, Gavin Cecchini knocked in a pair with a double to left to give the Mets a then 3-0 lead.

This would be all the Mets would need as they cruise to another spring victory.

On deck:

The Mets will head back to First Data Field to take on the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow with a matinee performance. Matt Harvey will get the ball for the Mets and will be opposed by Mike Leake. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
