Good news on the Mets injury front Mets fans… It looks like the situation regarding the Ike Davis bone bruise, has taken a turn for the better. (yes, that says better)

Davis, who is recovering from a bone bruise in his right ankle, has been jogging on a weight-reducing treadmill the last two days — and by all accounts everything seems to be going very well.

Manager Terry Collins spoke to reporters before the Mets took the field last night against the Giants, “I got a very, very good report today that the ankle is responding very, very well,” Terry Collins said. “No discomfort. Of course, the big challenge will be when it is 100%, when he gets on the ground and starts running.”

Davis is expected to start running on flat ground in the coming days and if that goes well, he could avoid having season-ending microfracture surgery and instead begin a minor league rehab assignment.

How awesome would that be?

The return of a healthy Ike Davis could bolster a Mets team who has continued to scratch and claw it’s way into a run for the Wild Card.

Davis is certainly not out of the woods yet, but this news is very encouraging to say the least.

What’s that quote former generations of Mets fans used to say all the time? I think it went something like this…

Ya Gotta Believe!
