In 1965, Major League Baseball held their first Amateur Draft and with the second overall pick, the New York Mets selected left-hander Les Rohr in the first round.

Rohr, a hard throwing left-handed pitcher, would make his big league debut during the 1967 season. making three September starts and finishing with a 2.12 ERA while striking out 15 batters in 17.1 innings.

However, things unraveled the following season when he tore a tendon in his left elbow after tossing two innings in an epic 24-inning game against the Houston Astros. Rohr returned to the mound versus the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1969, and was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers after one appearance.

But during his physical, doctors discovered a ruptured disc in his lower back, killing the deal as well as his career. Rohr would never pitch again.

It was a pretty ominous start to the Mets’ MLB Draft history, but over the next 52 seasons the Mets would have some pretty big hits in the first round as well as some pretty big misses.

For this edition of “So You Think You Know the Mets,” let’s see if  you can name all 17 first round picks the Mets have had since 2000. You have three minutes to name all 17 players.

So you think you know the Mets?

Prove it!!!

Good Luck…
