MetsMerized and WIOX radio are teaming up again to present their second annual Mets Themed Christmas Tip-Off radio show.  Every holiday season, Tip-Off radio hosts John Bernhardt and Randy VanKeuren dedicate the lion’s share of their last radio show before Christmas to Mets themed holiday carols.  MetsMerized readers write these Mets themed carols that they submit to WIOX.  John and Randy then select their favorites and sing those tunes on their final Friday morning radio show before Christmas.  Selected Mets themed carols are also posted on MetsMerized.

Historically, the final Tip-Off hour before Christmas was dedicated to performing the New York sports themed carols featured annually in Mike Vaccaro’s New York Post column every Sunday before Christmas. Last winter with Joe DeCaro’s blessing, Tip-Off and MetsMerized joined forces to provide Met fans with an opportunity to get their creative juices flowing and creating Met themed holiday carols. It’s a lot of fun!

Here’s how it works. Your task is to reshape the lyrics of a traditional holiday favorite around something to do with the Mets.  Write a short bio we could use to introduce you should we select your song to perform.  Include who you are, where you’re from, your occupation, and something about the joys of being a Mets fan. Then e-mail your song and bio to us at [email protected].

Randy and I will review the entries, select seven or eight to perform, set them to music and presto, on Friday, we’ll be talking about you and performing your songs on our Winning entries will hear their holiday favorites performed by John and Randy during the December 19th Friday morning Tip-Off radio show. Show us what you’ve got and unleash your creativity and your passion for the Mets!
