Shortstop Ruben Tejada is ready to begin a rehab assignment later this week for the GCL Mets, according to Terry Collins.
Collins said Tejada will work his way up to Triple-A Las Vegas before completing his rehab and being activated.
Tejada was placed on the DL on May 30 with a right quadriceps strain suffered while reaching for a foul popup.
The Mets manager punted a question asking how he would fit in with Omar Quintanilla now starting and playing productively.
Tejada was in a horrendous slump at the time of his injury and was batting .209/.267/.262 for the season.
