New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario has found himself in the leadoff spot more frequently recently, though without much success, until his big day on Thursday in the doubleheader split vs the Philadelphia Phillies.

Rosario led the first game off with a 433 foot blast to center field on the very first pitch of the game. In his next at-bat he lined an RBI single to right field to tie the game at 2-2. He would then single again in the next inning, two runs scored on the play to give the Mets a 5-3 lead in the third.

The 22-year-old would also single later in the game giving him four hits. He finished game one going 4-for-7 with three RBI, four runs scored, sixth homer and his 14th stolen base.

Rosario would then start game two off with a double and come around to score in the first inning. He doubled again later in the game to give him 20 on the season. He also walked, knocked in a run and scored three more times.

All told, the young shortstop went 6-for-11 with a walk, four RBI, three extra base hits and seven runs scored in the doubleheader. He’s also learning the art of basestealing with him being successful in eight of his last nine attempts.

In a season that has been mostly filled with disappointment for Rosario, let’s hope Thursday was a step in the right direction.
