Last week, New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario left the game against the Boston Red Sox early after being hit by a pitch on his hand. Luckily for the Mets, the young shortstop didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Rosario was able to return to the lineup on Sunday afternoon, and he certainly returned with a bang. In his first at-bat back, Rosario crushed a 3-1 fastball over the left field fence for a no-doubt three run home run.

Postgame Rosario told reporters on his return, “It felt great to be back out there. Those couple of days off I had were a great help.”

Rosario has found success thus far in camp, as he now has two doubles and two home runs through fourteen at-bats. After a strong finish to the 2018 season, the former top prospect looks extremely comfortable at the plate.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway has taken notice of this, and earlier in the week he offered some high praise of Rosario’s much improved approach at the plate, particularly with two strikes.

“Just unbelievable at-bats compared to what we would’ve been seeing from him last year.. He’s been really conscious of that two strike approach, and that’s really going to help him out,” Callaway said.

Over 64 games post All-Star break, Rosario hit .268/.302/.383 with ten doubles, five home runs, and eighteen stolen bases. With a newfound confidence and improving approach at there plate, the 23-year old certainly seems primed for a breakout 2019 season.
