Ronny Mauricio is the Mets’ highest-profile prospect currently playing in fall/winter leagues as he mans shortstop for the Tigres del Licey.

After collecting two hits in Sunday’s action, the 21-year-old went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two walks and two RBIs on Monday. One of the doubles came off former Met Jenrry Mejia. That performance brought Mauricio’s overall Dominican Winter League (LIDOM) numbers to 6-for-14 with four RBIs, two walks and two stolen bases in just three games.

It’s a hot start Mauricio as he looks to improve his plate discipline. He’s managed just a .300 on-base percentage over nearly 1,900 plate appearances in his professional career. He has a 4.9% walk rate to go along with his .261 career average. That large of a sample size typically tells you what a player is (even if he’s only 21). Mauricio has developed to have solid power, but if he can’t get on base more, it’ll be difficult to get routine at-bats in the majors.

In other prospect news, two Mets pitchers made an appearance in Monday’s Peoria Javelinas game in the Arizona Fall League:

Two hitters started the game, too:

Stanley Consuegura is on the Javelinas’ taxi squad and has yet to appear in a game.
