The New York Mets announced that they have re-assigned RHP Paul Sewald to minor league camp on Tuesday morning.

Sewald, 26, allowed four runs and seven hits in 14.1 innings this spring, while striking out 12 batters. He made a great impression while he was in camp and came close to winning a job in the big-league bullpen.

Last season with Triple-A Las Vegas, he posted a 3.29 ERA, 1.203 WHIP and 11.0 K/9 in 65 innings with 18 saves in 23 chances.

Sewald was not on the Mets 40-man roster which made his path to the opening day roster somewhat difficult. But as I wrote last November, he is certainly an MLB-ready arm and he’ll certainlymake his way to the Mets in 2017.
