According to Jim Bowden of ESPN, Jose Reyes now has two legitimate offers, but Adam Rubin has confirmed the second offer is not from the Mets.
Tuesday morning, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that the Marlins had offered Reyes a six-year, $90 million deal.
Jon Heyman thinks the Mets are still in play, Andy Martino says it’s now unlikely.
Joel Sherman did reports that the Mets believe they will get an opportunity to match or beat any offer when he’s done shopping.

The Miami Marlins’ preliminary offer to Jose Reyes was for six years, $90 million a source has told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
In addition to that going for them, the story cited a source saying the potential of playing in a warm climate, which would lessen the risk to his hamstrings, as well as playing for Ozzie Guillen, would be attractive to Reyes.
If this is true it disputes the prevailing theories that somehow Reyes was being offered a three year deal for high dollars which Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog had heard from his sources and reported.
As Steve Popper of The Record wrote this morning, “Reyes wants security and this is the time to secure a long term deal. If the Marlins starting point is truly these numbers it’s easy to see them bumping up to the place he wants to be.”
Yesterday, an MLB source told Joel Sherman of the New York Post, that Jose Reyes is targeting at least a $100 million deal.
“Until he gets a deal that starts with a one, he will not sign.”

Not shocking and not surprising at all. Definitely in the same ballpark that many of us including myself envisioned.
This a TREMENDOUS preliminary offer. Remember this is the starting point – the ground floor – it only goes up from here. Alderson wanted other teams to set the market, and boy he sure did.
The real question is, if this report from Rosenthal is true, would you want the Mets to top this offer?
By top it I mean go to a $19MM or $20MM average annual salary or add on an option year.
Would you want the Mets to top this offer?
