The Mets agreed to a deal with free agent outfielder Mark Canha, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported Friday evening.

The deal is for two years and $26.5M, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The move comes just hours after they signed fellow 32-year-old, third baseman Eduardo Escobar to a two-year, $20M deal. Mark Feinsand of MLB reported that like the Escobar deal, there is a third-year option.

Canha was drafted by the Marlins the seventh round of the 2010 draft, and has spent his entire MLB career with the Athletics. He owns a career batting line of .244/.344/.431 with a 116 wRC+.

He posted his career-high OBP in 2019 with a .396 mark. He followed that up with .387 in 2020, then fell to .358 in 2021. He was still above average in 2021, posting a 115 wRC+ and 2.6 fWAR.

The Mets will have to remove someone from their 40-man roster once the Escobar and Canha deals are finalized.
