According to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News, general manager Sandy Alderson will return to the New York Mets next season.

Alderson, 69, would be returning to the Mets for his eighth season after being hired on October 29, 2010.

The Mets have followed up a World Series run in 2015 and a Wild Card berth  last season with a disappointing 65-87 campaign and have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Ackert also reports that the Mets have yet to make a decision on manager Terry Collins despite team sources that believe he will retire following this season.
