According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres have interviewed former Mets manager Luis Rojas for their open managerial spot.

The Mets decided to decline their 2022 option on Rojas following a disappointing 2021 season in which they finished 77-85 after being in first place for a large portion of the year.

The Mets did offer Rojas an undefined role to stay in the organization, but obviously any managerial gig would lure him away from New York.

It was previously reported that the Cardinals also interviewed recently fired former Cardinals manager Mike Shildt.

The Padres fired manager Jayce Tingler after just two seasons with the team following their own 79-83 disappointment in 2021.
