Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that he talked to one executive that has talked to the Mets that they will “definitely” trade right-handed starter Noah Syndergaard.

The rumors regarding Syndergaard have been heavy since it was reported on Thursday that the Mets could look to deal him and extend Zack Wheeler.

Sherman also reports that the Mets feel that the Braves and Padres are in the best position to trade for Syndergaard given the strengths of their farm systems. The Mets sent two of their top lieutenants to scout the top of the Braves farm system on Thursday.

The Mets are looking for a No. 3 or No. 4 starter and a few top prospects in return for Syndergaard according to Sherman.

Other teams that are looking to potentially adding pitching before the July 31 deadline also includes the Astros, Yankees, Twins, Brewers, and the Angels. Our own Ryan Finkelstein took a look at teams that could want the services of Syndergaard and what they have to offer.

The 26-year-old Syndergaard has a 4.33 ERA and a 3.64 FIP in 126.2 innings this season. He is under team control through the 2021 season.
