Jon Morosi of MLB confirms that Japanese star outfielder Seiya Suzuki will be posted this offseason. The 27-year-old immediately becomes one of the top outfielders of the free agency class and one of the youngest overall as well.

Suzuki slashed .319/.436/.640 with 38 home runs and more walks (88) than strikeouts (87) in 138 games for the Hiroshima Carp in 2021. He’s had at least 50 extra base hits in his last five seasons and has 77 stolen bases in that span as well.

Though he has experience in center field, left field, third base, shortstop, and first base, he’s been primarily a right fielder over his last couple of seasons. In 2020, he had six defensive runs saved in right field and this past season he had two defensive runs saved.

The right-handed thrower and hitter led Nippon Professional Baseball with 8.4 WAR for the 2021 season.

All MLB clubs will have 30 days to negotiate the terms of a contract with Suzuki once he is posted. The Hiroshima Carp have yet to officially announce that Suzuki has been posted.
