Joe Pantorno of AM New York Metro is reporting that Steve Cohen will be signing an agreement to transfer majority ownership of the New York Mets to the hedge fund billionaire sometime today.

That means as soon as he gets approved by MLB owners in November, he’ll assume control of the franchise, Pantorno adds.

Cohen entered exclusive negotiations to buy the Mets on August 28th, and has been hammering out the final details with Allen and Co. over the past few weeks to make the sale official.

Fox Business correspondent Charles Gasparino, first reported last week, that Cohen and the Mets were finalizing paperwork on his purchase of the team.

Once Cohen signs on the dotted line, the only hurdle that remains will be the owners meeting in November, where he will need at least 23 of the 30 owners to approve the deal.

It’s happening Mets fans… By the end of this year the Wilpons will be OUT in Flushing. Their long and frustrating reign of incompetence will be at an end, and a new era will be ushered in.
