It’s been a month since the New York Mets parted ways with manager Buck Showalter after a disappointing 2023 campaign that saw the team finish 75-87—a fourth-place finish in the National League East.

Since then, the Mets have been hunting for a new manager while Showalter seeks another opportunity to lead a club. The Los Angeles Angels fired Phil Nevin after a disappointing season, and the long-time manager Showalter seems interested in the job.

According to MLB Network‘s Jon Morosi, Showalter is a candidate for the Angels managerial position.

Angels general manager Perry Minasian has a connection with Showalter as Minasian was a scout with the Texas Rangers when Showalter managed the team.

Showalter has managed five teams over 31 years with the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Orioles, and Mets. Compiling a record of 1,727- 1,664. He’s won manager of the year four times, including in 2022 with the Mets, and made the playoffs six times throughout his career. His latest October appearance came in 2022 as the Mets lost to the San Diego Padres in the Wild-Card series after he guided the Mets to 101 wins.

In two years as Mets manager, Showalter won 176 games and is still on the hunt for his first World Series championship.
