New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto returned to the field tonight for the first time since he was hit on the hand by San Francisco Giants starter Matt Moore on June 25.

Conforto went 3 for 4 with a walk, double, run batted in and a run scored while playing nine innings in center field on Thursday night for the St. Lucie Mets.

Conforto is expected to come off the disabled list on Saturday, the first day he is eligible to do so.

Left-handed reliever Josh Smoker also began his rehab assignment for St. Lucie on Thursday. He pitched one inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. He threw 16 pitches with 12 of them coming for strikes.

First base prospect Peter Alonso went 2 for 4 and Tim Tebow doubled and knocked in a run. Tebow has now reached base safely in all ten games with St. Lucie.
