Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Cincinnati Reds have signed right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez to a two-year, $26 million deal. Passan reports the deal has an opt-out after the first season.
Martinez, 33, had a 3.43 ERA in 110 innings this season for the San Diego Padres, working in a variety of different roles. Martinez made nine starts, finished six games, and pitched in 63 games overall this year.

Mark Feinsand of MLB reports that the Cincinnati Reds are signing right-handed reliever Emilio Pagán. Feinsand reports the Reds are giving Pagán a two-year deal. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports it’s a two-year, $16 million deal.
Pagán, 32, is coming off a very strong 2023 season that saw him post a 2.99 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 69 1/3 innings for the Twins. The former Rays closer held opponents to a .182/.246/.307 batting line this year. Pagán added two scoreless innings during the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros.
For his career, Pagán has a 3.71 ERA and 456 strikeouts in 400 innings between Mariners, A’s, Rays, Padres, and Twins.
Pagán joins righty Reynaldo López (Atlanta Braves) as bullpen arms to join new teams early in free agency.
