The Boston Red Sox announced today that Tom Goodwin will be their new first base coach and outfield instructor. He will also coordinate base running instruction.

Goodwin, 49, had been the New York Mets first base coach and outfield instructor for the past six seasons after replacing Mookie Wilson in October of 2011.

The former big leaguer is returning to the Red Sox organization that he worked for from 2008-2011. He was the Lowell Spinners manager in 2008 then worked as the Red Sox Minor League Outfield and Baserunning Coordinator.

Goodwin was applauded for his recent work with Mets outfielders including helping Michael Conforto learn center and right field.

The Mets have yet to announced who their first base coach for 2018 will be.
