Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Red Sox have claimed right-hander Chris Mazza off waivers from the Mets. Anthony DiComo of MLB.com says that fellow right-hander Stephen Nogosek has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets had designated Mazza for assignment last Friday when they made the signing of right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha official. Nogosek was designated when the deal for right-handed starter Rick Porcello became official.

Mazza, 30, made his big league debut in 2019 with the Mets on June 29. He had a 5.51 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 16 1/3 major league innings for the Mets.

The former 27th round pick had a 3.61 ERA and 1.17 in 99 2/3 minor league innings between Double-A and Triple-A this past season for the Mets. He was acquired by them in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft last year.

The Mets 40-man roster currently sits at 40.
