The New York Mets (63-84) fell to the Atlanta Braves (67-79) by a score of 3-2 on Friday night at SunTrust Park. They have now lost five straight games.

Pitching:

Rafael Montero (5-9, 5.05 ERA) got the nod for the Mets in this one. Montero started off well, but fell into trouble in the fifth inning. He left with two outs in the fifth after giving up two runs and then loading the bases. He took the loss as he gave up seven hits, two walks, and three runs while striking out six in 4.2 innings.

Chasen Bradford got the final out of the fifth and got the first out of the sixth.

Tommy Milone replaced Bradford in the sixth after Bradford gave up his second hit with only one out. Milone was successfully able to get the final two outs.

Jerry Blevins came on for the seventh and tossed a scoreless frame with two strikeouts.

Paul Sewald pitched the eighth inning and delivered a perfect inning.

Offense:

The Mets offense faced Sean Newcomb (2-8, 4.38 ERA) of the Braves.

Jose Reyes got the Mets on the board in the third inning as he drove in Gavin Cecchini on a groundout to shortstop.

Dominic Smith gave the Mets a 2-1 lead an inning later with a RBI double to left field.

Overall on the night, Mets hitters combined for seven hits, three walks, and two runs.

Asdrubal Cabrera shined as he went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a walk. He’s gone 18 for 33 during his current 9-game hit streak.

Neither Amed Rosario nor Travis d’Arnaud made an appearance in the game after leaving Thursday night’s game early.

The Mets continue this series on Saturday as Jacob deGrom (14-9, 3.63 ERA) takes the mound against R.A. Dickey (9-9, 4.28). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
