The Mets (38-43) fell to the Philadelphia Phillies (27-53) by a score of  7-1 at Citi Field on Sunday afternoon.

Despite the loss, the Mets took two out of three in this series.

Pitching

Rafael Montero pitched well, but had one bad inning in his outing which was his undoing.

A sloppy four run second inning resulted in Montero’s fifth loss on the season.

In total, Montero allowed four runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings while walking two and striking out six.

Chase Bradford struggled in his 1 1/3 innings of work as he put the game out of reach. Bradford allowed three runs on four hits and struck out one.

Neil Ramirez had a reversal of fortunes to finish off the game as he struck out three of the four hitters he faced in relief.

Offense:

The Mets offense was nonexistent against Phillies starter Nick Pivetta this afternoon.

New York only had one hit against Pivetta, and just two hits total the whole game.

The lone Mets run of the game came on a T.J. Rivera solo home run, the infielders fourth home run of the season, but the one run was not nearly enough to mount a comeback against Philadelphia.

Up Next:

The Mets travel to Washington D.C. to start a big series with the Washington Nationals Monday night.

Steven Matz (2-1, 2.67 ERA) will be opposed by Stephen Strasburg (9-2, 3.51 ERA) with first pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m.
