The New York Mets (14-16) dropped their series finale to the Miami Marlins (12-18) by a score of 7-0 this afternoon at Citi Field
Pitching:
After it was reported that Matt Harvey had been suspended three games by the team, Adam Wilk was called up from Triple-A to make a spot start.
Wilk didn’t fare too well against the Marlins and more specifically Giancarlo Stanton who took the left-hander deep twice.
The first Stanton homer was a three-run bomb to get the Marlins on the board and the second was a solo shot.
Adeiny Hechavarria took Wilk deep as well in the fourth to put icing on the cake.
All and all, Wilk surrendered six runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Paul Sewald came on to relieve Wilk and tossed 3 1/3 innings out of the ‘pen, allowing one run and striking out six.
Offense:
The whole Harvey debacle seemed to really have had an effect on the Mets this afternoon as they were only able to muster up one hit.
On deck:
The Mets begin a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants tomorrow night at Citi Field. Jacob deGrom (2-1, 3.68 ERA) will be opposed by Matt Moore (1-4, 6.75 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
