Matz turned in the best start of his brief 2017 campaign as he delivered seven shutout innings, holding the Marlins to six hits and one walk while striking out four.
Josh Edgin came on in the bottom of the eighth and held the Marlins scoreless.
Chasen Bradford did the same for the Mets in the bottom of the ninth to finish the game.

Offense

After getting off to a 3-0 lead, the Mets were kept off the board until the seventh inning. With Travis d’Arnaud and Reyes at the corners, T.J. Rivera grounded into a force out which scored d’Arnaud. Granderson then gave the Mets a 6-0 lead on a two-run homer to right center field.
Brandon Nimmo drove in his first runs of the season as he singled in two runs in a pinch-hit opportunity during the eighth inning.
Granderson kept up his hot hitting as he extended his hitting streak to seven games. During that seven-game stretch, he is 12-for-30 (.400) with five home runs, eight RBI, and 10 runs scored.
Jose Reyes had a great day at the dish, going 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, and an RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera and Curtis Granderson each recorded two hits.
