Pitching

Jacob deGrom dominated all afternoon and into the night. The righty fired eight innings and allowed one run on four hits while walking one and striking out seven.

The lone flaw of deGrom’s outing came in the bottom of the seventh when Brandon Belt took him deep to knot the game up at one a piece.

DeGrom has now pitched three straight games going eight innings or deeper and has allowed a total of three runs and has a 0.72 ERA over that span (25 IP).

Addison Reed came on for the ninth and seemingly rolled a double play to end the game before the Giants challenged the play and Brandon Belt was deemed safe at first.

The Giants then added a run to cut the score to 5-2, but Reed was able to secure the win and earn his twelfth save of the campaign.

Hitting

Wilmer Flores smacked a home run to get the Mets scoring started in the fourth to break the silence. Later in the game, he doubled in a run to give the Mets some breathing room at a then score of 3-1.

Asdrubal Cabrera reached base four times with a single, double, and a pair of walks. Cabrera has now gone 5-for-9 since his move to second base.

Jay Bruce singled home a run in the eighth to break the tie and give deGrom back the lead, a lead they wouldn’t look back from.

After a lead-off Jose Reyes triple, Michael Conforto drove him home with a pinch hit RBI single in the ninth. Conforto later came around to score on a wild pitch.
