The Phillies have signed longtime Mets reliever Jeurys Familia, Robert Murray of MLB reported Saturday.

It was yet another in a slew of moves made around baseball in the busy weekend day. Familia, who has spent most of his career with the Mets outside of a brief stint with the Athletics in 2018, will be moving to one of the Mets’ division rivals.

Familia owns a 3.28 ERA and 9.5 K/9 over 10 years in the big leagues. He was signed out of the Dominican Republic, made his professional debut in 2008 and his major league debut in 2012. His first full season in the majors was in 2014, when he finished seventh in Rookie of the Year voting.

He was a part of the Mets’ 2015 team that made it to the World Series. He was also an All-Star in 2016, finishing 17th in MVP voting. He led the majors with 51 saves and and 67 games finished that season.

In 2021, Familia had a 3.94 ERA with 10.9 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9. He had his ups and downs as a Met, but it was certainly a long, successful career overall in the orange and blue.

Now, the Mets will likely be facing him in late-inning situations when they face off against the Phillies.
