Pete Alonso avoided broken bones in his hand. X-rays on the first baseman’s right hand came back negative the Mets announced.
Starling Marte was diagnosed with left quad tightness.
Both will undergo further imaging.

Pete Alonso left Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres after he was hit in the hand by a pitch from Yu Darvish, and Starling Marte soon followed after suffiering what appeared to be a leg injury.
On a 1-1 pitch in the top of the second inning, Darvish threw a 96 mph sinker inside to Alonso, and the pitch hit him on the inside of the right hand. It was the seventh time he’s been hit by a pitch this season. The first baseman crumpled to the ground, and when he came to his feet, Buck Showalter was there to meet him.
After testing his hand out with the trainer, Alonso left the game. J.D. Davis took his place on the bases and later at first base.
It was the second time the Mets were hit by a pitch in the game, and one batter after Alonso, Jeff McNeil got hit by a pitch, too. That’s now 40 times the Mets have been hit by a pitch–six more than any other team in the majors and 13 more than any other National League team.
Marte, on the other hand, seemed to hurt his leg after over sliding second base on a steal attempt in the first inning. He came up limping after it seemed his left leg kicked up in an awkward position while sliding on his belly.
He stayed in for a half-inning then came out of the game. He was replaced by Mark Canha.
That leaves the Mets with just one bench player–Tomás Nido–for the remainder of Tuesday’s game.
