The Mets go for the series victory against the Padres tonight! Last night, the Mets got an early 3-0 lead and built on that the entire night as they beat the Padres 11-5. Carlos Carrasco gave the Mets length, going seven innings. Eduardo Escobar became the 11th Met to hit for the cycle and overall the Mets collected 16 hits. A nice night in San Diego.

The Mets bats will get a look at Yu Darvish, who is currently in his second season with the Padres. Over 10 starts and 60 1/3 innings, Darvish has a 4.03 ERA, 3.47 FIP, 1.094 WHIP and a 96 ERA+. He is coming off of a start where he managed to pitch really deep into the game (7 2/3 innings) but allowed five runs from seven hits and two walks. Last year against the Mets he allowed two runs from four hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings.

Taijuan Walker looks to repeat last night’s magic as he takes the mound today. Over eight starts and 40 2/3 innings, Walker has a 2.88 ERA, 3.70 FIP, 1.279 WHIP and a 139 ERA+. In his last five starts and 29 2/3 innings of work, he has allowed seven runs and nine walks with a 2.12 ERA. Half of the 14 runs he’s allowed this season came on one start back on May 5.

Last year against the Padres, Walker allowed four runs (three earned) over five innings of work in a game the Mets eventually lost 4-3. The Padres have the following career numbers against Walker:
