First baseman Pete Alonso,infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil, and starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will be the New York Mets’ 2019 All-Stars, the team announced on Twitter.

Alonso, 24, is the first rookie position player in franchise history to make the All-Star team. The only other rookies to do so as a Met are Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman and Dwight Gooden.

The Florida native has had a splendid campaign thus far, clubbing 28 home runs (a Mets club record for a rookie, and the first rookie with 28 home runs before July 1), while hitting at a .278/.371/.629 clip. Alonso has also been worth 3.5 bWAR.

It’s a dream come true,” Alonso said, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. “I’d never think in a million years I’d be an All-Star as a rookie. This is crazy.”

Alonso went on to say it’s a dream come true and said that to “think he’s one of the best in the world is insane.”

Joining him offensively, Jeff McNeil, has put up a fantastic campaign in his own right.

The 27-year-old has hit .344/.409/.508 with six home runs and 32 RBI for the Mets this year, while being worth 2.7 bWAR.

“I’m a new guy in the league and not all that known yet, so it’s huge for me that the players recognized what I was doing,” McNeil said about his selection, according to Peter Botte on Twitter. “It’s a huge compliment and a dream come true. To do it with Pete, to come all the way through the system with him, it’s pretty exciting.”

Last but not least, Jacob deGrom will also appear in his third All-Star game.

The 2018 Cy Young winner appeared in the Mid-Summer Classic last year, as well as the 2015 game where he notably struck out the side in 10 pitches.

So far this year, the 31-year-old has pitched to a 3.32 ERA, 3.09 FIP, 1.107 WHIP and has 11.2 K/9. He has also been worth 3.2 bWAR.

Anytime you are elected to the All-Star game it’s something cool, so I’m excited,” deGrom said, according to DiComo. “I’m excited for Pete and Jeff as well. Well deserved for those guys.”

DeGrom joked that it’ll be nice to have the two by his side because both times he was selected to the All-Star Game, he went by himself.

Alonso will also participate in the Home Run Derby on Monday, July 8 as well.
