According to Mike Puma of the New York Post,  Mike Pelfrey has been dealing with a high ankle sprain for mostly all of Spring Training,

Pelfrey told Puma he sprained his right ankle in the offseason, “and then aggravated the injury shortly after camp began”.

Pelfrey has been awful this spring and has allowed an alarming 18 runs, 20 hits, and 6 walks in just 9.2 innings.

Also, this morning we learned that Pelfrey has a non-guaranteed contract, which means, if he’s cut before Opening Day, the Mets would only be responsible for paying a portion of his $5.6 million salary.

It’s not known if this option is even on the table, but if it was I doubt they would leak it as they do much of everything else.

He’s certainly not worth $5.6 million in my opinion.
