Pedro Martinez did not come out to pitch the fifth inning after being pinch-hit for in the bottom of the fourth inning.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX sports, when he made contact with Pedro Martinez in the dugout, he pointed to his groin and said it was precautionary.

UPDATE: After initially thinking it was a groin problem, it is now being reported that Pedro was pulled because of a right shoulder strain. Yikes!

Pedro was pitching a good game allowing no runs on just one hit. He was replaced by Carlos Muniz who pitched a scoreless inning in the fifth. The Mets are currently leading 2-0 with the latest run coming off of a Jose Reyes solo homerun.

It doesn’t look like this injury is too serious as Pedro is still sitting in the dugout watching the game. We’ll keep you updated as we get more information.
