Relievers Bobby Parnell and Vic Black are both active and available tonight for the St. Lucie Mets as they take on the Brevard County Manatees in Viera, Florida.

Parnell last pitched on Opening Day last season so it’s been a little more than a year since he last threw off a mound in the regular season as he was recovering from Tommy John surgery.

In his career, over 299 appearances, Parnell has a 3.59 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He was the Mets closer in 2013 and did fairly well in that role, saving 22 games and owning a 2.16 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. So the Mets are hoping to see more of the 2013 version of Parnell, who when healthy, is one of the hardest throwers in the game.

In terms of Black, the hard throwing right-hander has been dealing with shoulder tendinitis for about a month. In his time with the Mets since being acquired from the Pirates, he has a 3.00 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 59 appearances.

While the Mets bullpen is off to an impressive start, the additions of Parnell and Black figure to make the Mets pen even stronger.
