The New York Mets (17-11) were shutout by the San Diego Padres (13-17) by a score of 2-0 at PETCO Park on Friday night.

Pitching:

Noah Syndergaard was looking to rebound after a lackluster start his last turn out against the Giants.  Thor was much better tonight allowing just two runs over six innings, walking two, and striking out five.

Jim Henderson came on in the seventh and pitched a clean inning for the Mets. While Jerry Blevins and Addison Reed combined to shut the Padres down in the eighth.

Offense:

The Mets offense was completely baffled tonight as Drew Pomeranz and friends stymied the bats all night.

The Mets tried to get themselves on the board in the seventh after Asdrubal Cabrera lead off with his second single of the game.  Wilmer Flores then roped a double down the LF line and Cabrera was sent home.  Unfortunately,  Alexei Ramirez made a perfect throw to nail Cabrera at the plate by a few steps.

Notes:

Curtis Granderson and Lucas Duda both got starts tonight going up against the lefty.  Michael Conforto and Neil Walker sat out.

The Mets offense struggled for third time in the last four games.

This was the first time in three weeks the Mets have lost two straight games.

On Deck:

The Mets will play their third game of a four game set with the San Diego Padres tomorrow night at PETCO Park.  The game has a start time of 8:40 PM.  Bartolo Colon (2-1, 2.56 ERA) will look to stop the skid as he goes up against James Shields (1-4 3.23 ERA).
