According to a press release that MetsMerizedOnline’s Mathew Brownstein came into possession of, New York-based Georgi Vodka’s owner, Martin Silver, is attempting to buy a 10% stake of the New York Mets, which are currently being sold by the by some of the team’s shareholders.
Silver has attempted to buy a part of the franchise before, but with the Wilpon’s reportedly putting 10 percent of the team up for sale, he has resurrected his offer.
Silver is a season-ticket holder and believes that he could “help revive the Mets and give them a jumpstart” according to the press release.
The Mets are 44-59 and on their way to their eighth losing season in 10 years.
Silver believes that through him the Mets can get back to being “No. 1.”
