Outfielder Mason Williams has been promoted to the Mets from Triple-A Syracuse, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Williams, 29, has been tearing it up for Syracuse. He’s batting .383/.473/.574, and has a seven-game hitting streak including a 3-for-3 night with a grand slam on Saturday. Cameron Maybin, meanwhile, just ended an 0-for-27 stretch with a soft infield single for the Mets.
As Mojo Hill pointed out in an article on Saturday, Williams has MLB experience, having played in parts of six seasons with the Yankees, Reds and Orioles while putting up a .272/.309/.370 batting line. He appeared in the majors as recently as 2020.
As DiComo pointed out, the Mets will need to make both a 26-man roster move and a 40-man roster move to make room for Williams.
