I just finished reading this great interview Steve Serby of the NY Post conducted with Mets prospect Dan Murphy.

Here are some of my favorite excerpts from the interview but please be sure to check out the full text and view the video he has too.

Q: Your first home run . . . was that like walking on air?

A: It was. . . . I don’t remember touching the bases. I think I touched all of ’em (smiles).

Q: People have compared you to Pete Rose.

A: I don’t know, I’m just out there trying to play the game hard. If I’m mentioned in the same sentence with him, then I’m more than ecstatic to hear that.

Q: What is your mentality on the field?

A: Play as hard as you can, ’cause you never know when your last game’s gonna be or your last pitch, and we’ve been given so much to be here to play in the big leagues, you can’t take any of that for granted.

This was my favorite answer…

Q: Your best attribute as a hitter?

A: That I don’t give anything away. I treat every at-bat, and every pitch, like it’s the last one I get. Just being a competitor every day in the box.

I’m just so happy that that all the so-called experts were wrong!

They said our minor leagues was in tatters and yet we were able to land Johan Santana and still bring up guys like Dan Murphy, Argenis  Reyes, and Nick Evans…

We haven’t even seen our top three prospects F-Mart, Jon Niese and Robert Parnell yet…

Our prospects have the opposing teams mouths drooling with envy!
