The Baltimore Orioles have signed right-hander Mychal Givens according to Robert Murray of FanSided.

Mark Feinsand of MLB reports that Givens will get $3 million for 2023 and there’s a mutual option of $6 million for the 2024 season. If Givens declines his end of next year’s option, he’d receive a $1 million buyout. If he triggers the option but the Orioles decline their end, he’d pick up a $2 million buyout.

The Mets declined their 2023 option for Givens making him a free agent. Givens was traded to the Mets during the 2022 deadline in exchange for minor league pitcher Saúl González.

After posting a 2.66 ERA and 11.3 SO/9 with the Cubs, Givens performed poorly for his former manager Buck Showalter. He allowed 11 runs in 20 2/3 innings and his strikeouts per nine dropped to 8.7. The veteran reliever pitched better down the stretch for the Mets allowing only two runs in his final 14 2/3 innings.

Givens became the second reliever from the Mets 2022 squad to sign with another team following Seth Lugo signing with the Padres earlier on Monday.
