The Pirates declined C Ryan Doumit’s $7.25 million option for 2012. Doumit posted a .303 batting average and .830 OPS this season in 77 games and has been hampered by injuries.

The Pirates also declined LHP Paul Maholm’s $9.75 million option for 2012. Maholm posted a solid 3.66 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 26 starts this season, but had to be shut down with a shoulder strain to end the season.

As expected, the Indians declined OF Grady Sizemore’s $9 million option for 2012. Sizemore, 29, batted just .224/.285/.442 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI in 71 games this season. The former all star had micro-fracture surgery on his left knee in 2010 and missed significant portions of the last two seasons. He is currently rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery on the same knee and is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

Aramis Ramirez declined his portion of a $16 million mutual option for 2012 after the Cubs exercised their half. Ramirez posted a .306/.361/.510 slash with 26 homers and 93 RBI this season.
