In an exclusive interview with Mike Francesa of WFAN, Omar Minaya revealed some of his most telling comments of the team’s off season strategy.

According to Francesa, Omar Minaya plans to solely focus on starting pitching and finding a closer.

When asked about free agent Manny Ramirez or trading for Orlando Hudson, he shook them off and said he was prepared to go to war with Luis Castillo at second base, Brian Schneider behind the plate, Ryan Church in right, and platoon of Dan Murphy and Fernando Tatis in left.

According to Francesa, he sounded pretty serious about it too.

I hope that this is just some posturing by Omar…

Honestly, I’m a little hesitant about seeing the same exact group of hitters from last season, taking the field again on Opening Day. It’s not that I have anything against any of those guys, but I gotta tell ya, I still have a really bad taste in my mouth from how the season ended.

I believe that a couple of new faces on offense would do wonders for my confidence in their ability, which I gotta say is a bit shattered right now.
